BULLETIN & DEVOTIONS

Announcements

Prayer Concerns:

Pray for those dealing with health issues. Pray that God gives them strength as they go through tests, treatments, and recovery.

Please pray for Camie Aalderks. She is the wife of Randy Aalderks and has provided special music on Sundays and sang with her family at our Gospel Nights. She had surgery on Friday to remove an aggressive growing mass from her brain. Pray that it is not cancerous and that she will have complete healing.

Pray for Allison Little Lambs. Pray for our director (Daniel) and our staff. Pray for the children and our mission to reach them with the love of Jesus.

Announcements:

There will be practice at 10:30 this morning for those participating in the Christmas Eve skit/program.

The kids have been working hard on their songs and lines for tonight’s Sunday School Christmas program. We hope you will return tonight at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy their program. Please have your children here by 6:15 p.m.

Today is the deadline to order poinsettias. Please sign up on the bulletin board and fill out the envelope provided (make checks payable to Allison Variety.)

We will be delivering Christmas goodie plates to our shut ins again this year. Please bring your treats to the church by 4:30 on Monday, December 18.

Don’t forget our Candlelight service will be on Dec. 24 at 6:00 p.m. It’s always a special service with a drama and communion. You won't want to miss it.

There is a gift box on the register in the foyer for monetary gifts for Pastor Gary and his family. There is also a box for people with special needs who have grown up in our congregation, and a box for candy donations for the Sunday School sacks.

Parents, are you looking for a break on Christmas break? Send your middle schoolers to the Middle School Lock-in on Dec. 27 from 5:00 to 11:00 pm. at The Corner. Pastor Gary, Robyn, and Daniel Shafer will be overseeing lots of fun. Remind your children to invite their friends! The Senior High will have a lock-in on Friday December 29.

This year, the Gideons Christmas Project is called “The Christmas Gift for Jesus”. In your church mailbox you will find a card from the Gideons. The cards and donations can be placed in the offering box by the mailboxes. Donations will purchase Bibles that will be handed out worldwide.

Little Lambs could use donations of construction paper, glue and glue sticks, craft supplies, books and educational toys. Please place them under the Christmas tree in the narthex. If you would prefer to make a monetary gift please talk to Rosemary. It’s wonderful to be part of such a caring congregation!

The new year is coming. If you didn't purchase a One Year Bible last year, maybe this is your year to try it. Contact the church office and we'll get them ordered. You don't want to wait until the holiday rush to get them ordered.

Our annual congregational meeting was held December 3. Gary Krukow and Dave White were chosen to serve as elders. Rosemary Sult and Kelly Thorne were chosen to serve as deacons. The congregation then approved those choices. However, if you have any legitimate objections to any of these individuals, such objections must be signed and presented to the board of elders in writing for their judgment.

There will be no Sunday School on Christmas Eve morning Dec. 24 or Dec. 31. Enjoy the extra time celebrating the holidays with family and friends.

There will be no adult Sunday School until January.

As 2017 draws to a close and we look ahead to next year, we have some volunteer opportunities available. We are looking for people who would be willing to line up special music for our Sunday morning services, volunteers to share the children’s sermons, greeters and additional members on our tech team to do sound and video. Please contact Sue if you are willing to help. Also tell her if you know of a local performer that might provide special music.

Who's ready for a mission trip? We have a date and place. We want to take a large group down to Van Buren, Missouri to redo homes following extensive flooding. Most work will consist of sheetrocking, painting, and other interior work. We have Feb. 18-24 reserved. You can come for the whole time or part of the allotted time. Talk to Joel Sult for more details.

As winter weather approaches keep these two things in mind:

1.We do not cancel our services during bad weather because we have our cable and internet broadcasts going out. We ask that you use good judgment and make your own decision about attending. Don't risk your life to be here! You can view our services on Dumont Cable #998 or go to trinref.org and you can see it on the internet.

2.We like to shake hands and welcome people warmly. So it's your responsibility to refrain from shaking hands if you are suffering from a cold or other health concern. If you're not feeling 100% just say, “Good morning” and give a polite wave.
