Prayer Concerns (Feb. 18):

Pray for those leaving on the mission trip today. Pray for safety as they travel and the work they will be doing in Missouri.

Continue to pray for those receiving treatments, those who have lost loved ones, and those who may have special needs. There are many needs that are never expressed publicly, but God still wants us to lift them up to him in prayer.

Pray for the families of the victims and the survivors of the Florida school shooting. Pray that God will comfort the grieving and help our country find ways to help avoid tragedies like these.

Please pray for our missionaries as they serve God in their respective places: Gary & Denise Abbas in Papua New Guinea, Dr. Bernadeth & Adrian Bobb-Kelly in Nicaragua, and Mark & Miriam Vellinga at Mescalero Reformed Church.

Announcements (Feb. 18):

*Take a week off in your reading of the Believe materials or spend it catching up. Next Sunday we will have a mission trip presentation. You can read chapter 27 (Kindness/Goodness) in your Believe books for Sunday, March 4.

Today is the first Sunday of Lent. We will be presenting a drama during our evening Community Lenten Services. We still have room in some of our later dramas, if you'd like to participate. If you’re interested please contact Pastor Gary.

The new folding chairs are here! They were purchased with funds made available by the Margaret Folkerts family, the women's group, and Bennie and Frances Fank. Thanks to them and all who made this project possible.

There will be a church potluck next Sunday, February 25 at 11:15. Make plans to attend. We always have plenty of delicious food and good conversations! There will be lots of exciting stories because our mission team will be back.

We will be starting a new Women’s Bible Study on Monday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m. at The Corner. We’ll be reading “Free to Lean” by Jocelyn Green and discussing how to find purpose and direction in our sometimes lopsided lives. Talk to Robyn (319-883-0720) if you’d like to join us!

Prayer Concerns (Feb. 11):

Continue to pray for Carl DeBoer as he deals with lymphoma and treatments. Pray that God will restore his strength and allow him to go back to a more normal schedule.

Harriet Freesemann was hospitalized last week in the Hampton hospital. Pray that doctors will find a solution to her circulation concerns and complications with her legs.

Edo and Louise Miller's son (Ronnie) died suddenly last week. Please pray that God will comfort Edo and Louise (and the whole Miller family) as they go through this tragic loss.

Please pray for those in our military as they serve our country at home and abroad. Especially pray for Dave Ritsema. His wife Catrina works at Allison Little Lambs.

Announcements (Feb. 11):

There will be a special meeting in the library at 10:00 today for all mission trip participants. Come and find out details about our trip.

Next Sunday is the first Sunday of Lent. We will be presenting a drama during our evening Community Lenten Services. We’re still looking for people to participate in the dramas, so if you’re interested please contact Pastor Gary.

New folding chairs: Very soon we will be purchasing new plastic folding chairs for the fellowship hall. That means the wooden folding chairs will be available for you. If you're interested in the old wooden folding chairs (some or all), please contact one of the deacons. They will consider any reasonable donation as payment.

A special opportunity: The Leadership Commission of classis is sponsoring a special gathering to hear Daryl Cripe as he shares his Kingdom vision of Discipleship. Daryl is a very fun and exciting speaker. His talk is inspiring, challenging and biblical! You certainly will want to attend if at all possible. Food will be provided. Join us on Saturday, February 17 - 9:00 a.m. to noon at First Reformed Church in Aplington. Sign up on the bulletin board so we can RSVP our numbers.
